Do you ever look up at the stars and can’t help but be lost in wonder? The moon, shooting stars, comets and galaxies never fail to capture our imagination.
Ever thought of what it’s like to study them for a living? We offer you this opportunity and platform to meet and interact with professional astronomers through workshops and talks.
We have been involved in various Projects. Here are some of them: We believe in sharing the joys of science, maths and Astronomy. We look forward to working with you.
Clear Skies
An IAU-OAD Sponsored Project to clear the minds of the youth lending clear skies of rational and scientific reasoning
Tabiyaat ka Safar
Physics in Simple Urdu
Here are video lectures and notes in Undergraduate Thermal Physics for 4 Semester students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, India. Due to the Covid-19 lockdown I have put these for the benifit of students. Others are welcome to watch & enjoy
Astronomy from Archival Data
This is a new IAU-OAD project in Covid times.
As a result of disruption of regular classes due to COVID-19, UG and PG students are losing on precious time. In the present times, is an avalanche of high-quality astronomy data from various facilities, ground and space-based.
Step 1 will be an Introduction to Astronomy & Research Problems.
Step 2 will be when participants will be shown step-by-step techniques of
accessing and analysing astronomy data in various wavelengths from the internet. We shall introduce them to virtual observatory tools and programmimg techniques to address some sample problems.
Step 3: Students will then take up projects and work on analysis independently.
We had a Six-Day Astronomy Online School. With the help of short videos, we introduced important
concepts in astronomy to participants. We had 470 registrations and 195 participants who have answered our quiz.
We have our feedbacks too from the session. The videos were online
where interaction with participants was active. They are still available on youtube in our channel.
We are conducting a six-day workshop from 15-20 June 2020 for school students Classes 8-10.
We are conducting a two-day workshop from 2-3 October 2021 for school students Classes 8-10.
We plan a two-day online workshop on observations with the Las Cumbres Observatory to observe Star Clusters and plot their HR diagrams. This program is planned for serious amateur and young aspiring professional astronomers. We shall have detailed presentations on magnitude scales, extinction, photometry and HR diagrams. There will be hands-on sessions on using the Aperture Photometry Tool (APT) and TopCat and participants will learn how to plot HR diagrams for Star Clusters.
